Good morning and Happy Friday! This is Betty Lin-Fisher with Friday's consumer-focused The Daily Money.
The housing market is beginning to show some glimmers of hope amid some grim reports.
First, the bad news: Sales of previously-owned homes only gained 1.3% in July, according to the National Association of Realtors. Also, mortgage rates, while down slightly compared to last week, are still higher than most home loans held by nearly all Americans.
But there's some positive news, according to my new colleague and USA TODAY housing reporter Andrea Riquier.
If you missed Amazon's Prime Day event in July, or if you are looking for another chance to get some Prime Day deals, the online retail giant is giving you another chance.
Amazon has announced that it will have another Prime Day event in October.
Walmart and Burger King are teaming up. In an announcement Thursday, the retailer said its Walmart+ members will receive a 25% discount on digital orders from Burger King. There's also another special perk of the partnership.
Each weekday, The Daily Money delivers the best consumer and financial news from USA TODAY, breaking down complex events, providing the TLDR version, and explaining how everything from Fed rate changes to bankruptcies impacts you.
